Apollos Fight with the Monstrous Python (Summary) Blog 2

The Python of Delphi was a creature the made its abode on Mount Parnassus near central Greece.  The creature had a body of a snake and wherever it went an odd and obnoxious smell followed it, so did death and mischief.  The Python had been sent out by Hera, wife of Zeus, to chase the pregnant Leto who was one of the many lovers of Zeus so she could not settle and give birth to her baby.  Apollo was only 4 days old at this time, but he wanted revenge against the Python for chasing his mother, Leto.  Using his silver bow with golden arrows Apollo confronted Python in his cave, the Python was furious and strong, but Apollo managed to land an arrow straight into the creatures forehead.  The Python struggled for life, but it was too late, and Apollo had ended the creatures life.  Apollo, stricken with joy, pulled out his Lyre and sang a song of victory, it was on this day that Apollo became the God of Music.
